Shanghai Baoye Builds a Global Zero-Carbon Metallurgy Demonstration Project in Zhanjiang

According to a report by Chinanews.com on February 26, the Zero-Carbon High-Grade Thin Steel Plate Production Line of Baosteel Zhanjiang Iron and Steel Co., Ltd., constructed by Shanghai Baoye, is the first hydrogen-based smelting zero-carbon thin steel plate production line in China. It adopts the "hydrogen-based shaft furnace electric furnace" short-process smelting method, which can reduce carbon emissions by more than 3.14 million tons per year throughout the whole process. The project has also achieved breakthroughs in aspects such as the informatization management and control of the whole process of steel structures, the anti-corrosion process of coastal plants, AI-enabled safety management and control, and the resource utilization technology of steel slag. It provides a replicable technical model for the low-carbon transformation of China's steel industry.
